- Furniture: Since Shelley sits in her home office for many hours each day, she wanted a desk and office furniture that reflected her commitment to the environment, did not off gas any harmful fumes, and was attractive and sturdy. She purchased her office furniture set from Baltix furniture. Her desk is made from pressed wheat board and the cabinets are made from pressed sun flower seeds.
- Flooring: Fortunately, in her office, Mike and Shelley were able to refinish the existing 70 year old floors.
- Materials: Procure as many recycled or recyclable products as possible, including paper, print cartridges, etc…
- Recycling: Recycle items like cartridges, batteries, and paper, and try to reuse items like folders and scrap paper.
- Day lighting/lighting strategies: Having windows allows Shelley to keep lights turned off during the day, and use LED task lighting when necessary.
- IAQ: Non-VOC paint used on walls
